There is plenty of action for us to capture with these magnificent engines under steam and you most certainly do not have to be a steam train fan to get a lot from this workshop.

We will be looking at how to best capture images of the engines when both static and moving, controlling how to capture the motion using the shutter speed whilst balancing our exposure level.

We shall also be capturing images of the whole environment along the railway line and atmosphere from a by-gone era, shooting the wider railway infrastructure including a signal box, period buildings, platform gardens and the restoration work being carried out in the engineering shed.

We travel the Watercress Line with the steam engines and alighting/board at the stations, to explore the great range of photographic opportunities at each location and capture the engines as they pass us by.
Breaks will be taken in between train movements.

There will be a lunch break around mid-day at one of the stations and between train movements. A packed lunch is recommended, but some stations have a cafe/hot drinks facility.

We start and finish the workshop at the Alton station end of the railway line.
